Veiled sarcasm or the most cynical post I've ever seen in the forum? What would Rosa Parks do?

Ah, I see it was the latter. Courage is in short supply these days, but it seems that we're experiencing a glut of cynicism.

Putin is a dangerous autocrat and the Orthodox Church is one of his primary political bases. I personally think they deserve a lot of credit for their "stunt." Their youthful exuberance may cost them dearly, but I can only applaud it when it's in the service of righteousness. Whatever the outcome, I'm hoping that it marks the beginning of the end for Putinism.

Yes, Putin is dangerous and is a collosal tool and we all know that Russian politics is corrupt, though knowing this it is "funny" how everyone is surprised that they are looking at serious prison time for their anti putin stunt, they are lucky that they are not already in a gulag in Siberia smoking cigarettes with murderers or dead...he won't let them off, but don't worry, they can do their Pussy Riot bit when they're in their 40s and 50s...think of all the time they will have to write songs...

Who's surprised? Outraged is the word. What surprises me is what a defeatist attitude you take toward people who are fighting for freedom of expression under an oppressive regime. In your world, nothing would ever change.

Wow, reading posts like yours, I'm reminded of that familiar refrain: "Hope I die before I get old"

Obviously it's too late for you.

everything both of you say is correct, however I am very cynical of the human race, plus I'm an asshole, an asshole with a heart...I understand the romantic notion of how everyone on the planet deserves to live free of tyranny, etc. if a trio of beetheads want to make a statement about essentially getting rid of Putin, then fine, the world will now see how Russia handles this, what we in the US take for granted, is a very different world overseas...the consequences will be severe, they need to call in the heavy artillery, I.e.Bono...maybe he has a pair of super shades he can give to Putin to make him see the light...

I hear you. I think/hope they understood what they were getting into. Everyone knows that the Russian state doesn't fuck around. On the other hand, this little "stunt" has gotten TONS more press coverage and international attention than similar attacks on Russian human rights groups and dissidents. Perhaps they're on to something.

Even the Soviets who murdered almost all the religious and destroyed almost all Orthodox monasteries, churches and cathedrals didn't touch the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (they just turned it into a museum of religious oppression).
The Cathedral has deep significance. If you see your country sliding back to the bad old days, and you have no access to any media (all state controlled again) outside of underground press with little reach, what do you do? Now those women didn't have jackhammers, they did a little dance. It's realistic to expect them to do years of jail time when it's about free speech not art? Now, I have some not so nice (but realistic) words running through my head, so I'll let the vids do the talking.

This one reminds me of the fake Jewish village the Nazi's filmed for propaganda. I wonder who produced this?
